Donald Trump's ‘Home Alone 2' Scene Cut from Canadian TV

December 26, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

President Donald Trump’s cameo in the holiday classic “Home Alone 2: Lost In New York” was completely axed from showings of the movie on Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) this month.

Viewers on Twitter praised the network for deleting Trump’s 15-second cameo, whereas many of his supporters complained about CBC’s decision.

CBC responded to ComicBook.com, who had initially reported the backlash to the edit, saying that this was not a political edit, but rather done to squeeze in an extra commercial or two.

"As is often the case with features adapted for television, Home Alone 2 was edited to allow for commercial time within the format,” CBC said.

This comes after Trump comically mentioned his “Home Alone 2” cameo on Christmas Eve while speaking to military service members in a teleconference: “Well, I’m in ‘Home Alone 2,’ and a lot of people mention it every year, especially around Christmas,” Trump said. He added that the movie became “one of the biggest” Christmas movies ever.

“They say ‘I just saw you.’ Especially young kids, they say, ‘I just saw you on the movie.’ They don’t see me on television as they do in the movie. But it’s been a good movie and I was a little bit younger, to put it mildly, and it was an honor to do it.”

“So it’s an honor to be involved in something like that. You always like to see success,” he said.
