This film is really happening. Despite his earlier claims, Alex Garland isn’t retiring or stepping back. On the contrary, he’s gearing up for the biggest gamble of his career.
Garland’s movie adaptation of the video game Elden Ring, produced by A24, is picking up momentum — and the filmmaker is set to bring a familiar face to lead the epic project.
Although it’s unclear how far along negotiations are or whether a formal offer has been made, sources tell Deadline that Garland has been in talks with Kit Connor, who recently appeared in the filmmaker’s “Warfare,” and they’re both very keen in getting a deal done.
This project could end up being the most expensive film in A24’s history. Still, the decision to have Garland at the helm comes as no surprise — the filmmaker has already teamed up with the studio on four previous films, including “Ex Machina” and “Civil War.”
