89-Year-Old Clint Eastwood Set to Direct ‘The Ballad of Richard Jewell'

June 11, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

Clint Eastwood’s “The Mule” amassed a domestic total of $103 million against a budget of just $50 million. Don't be surprised by that total, it's Clint Eastwood. That's right, it proved that the 88-year-old writer-director-actor-composer was still a major attraction for moviegoers nationwide. It also helped that the movie itself was fantastic, a straight-shooting drama that could only be made by an old-school veteran of the craft.

Clint Eastwood’s ‘The Mule’ Surprises With $17M opening; 88-Year-Old Actor Now a Best Actor Contender

December 17, 2018 Jordan Ruimy

Clint Eastwood's "The Mule"  had a 3-day box-office debut of $17.2M. This would rank as the writer-director-actor's third best opening ever (right behind 2000’s "Space Cowboys" ($18M) and 2008's "Gran Torino" ($29.4M). The film seems to also be loved by audiences who gave it an A- on CinemaScore and 4 stars on PostTrak. Audience reaction is much more impressive than its 62% RT fresh score, which no doubt has been bolstered by Eastwood's staunch Conservative stance these last few years.

December 4, 2018 Jordan Ruimy

Clint Eastwood‘s "The Mule" was supposed to be the last Oscar contender to be screened for critics this year. It opens in 11 days (on 12.13), but you wouldn't know that based on Warner Bros. refusing to screen it for any critics groups.

Trailer for Clint Eastwood's ‘The Mule,' His First Leading Role Since 2008's ‘Gran Torino'

October 4, 2018 Jordan Ruimy

You can add another noteworthy film to your must-see holiday basket. None other than Clint Eastwood will be releasing a film this coming December. The 88-year-old will direct and star in "The Mule," which is based on the true story of Leo Sharp, a WWII veteran in his 80s, who volunteered to lend his services as a drug mule. Eastwood will play the titular mule.

Based on the just-released trailer, we might have a potentially great film in our hands. If you remember, Eastwood had stated in 2008 that "Gran Torino" would be his last performance and that he'd be retiring from acting after that role. His casting in "The Mule" is a surprising turn of events as the legendary star is the central lead in the film. He seems to be in great shape for an 88-year-old geezer.
