December 3, 2020 Jordan Ruimy

Warner Bros. announced earlier today that its entire 2021 film slate will open via a “distribution model in which Warner Bros. will continue to exhibit the films theatrically worldwide, while adding an exclusive one month access period on the HBO Max streaming platform in the U.S. concurrent with the film’s domestic release.”

First Image of Timothée Chalamet in Denis Villeneuve's ‘Dune'

April 13, 2020 Jordan Ruimy

There is no question that Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of “Dune” is one of the most-anticipated 2020 movies for cinephiles worldwide. Not only is the source material, author Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi novel, in dire need of a solid movie adaptation (sadly, David Lynch’s version bombed back in 1984) but Villeneuve himself has become one of the most sought after directors in the industry after his back-to-back trifecta of “Sicario,” “Arrival,” and “Blade Runner 2049.”

As if Villeneuve's “Dune" wasn't already stacked with talent ...

February 14, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

Enter Jason Momoa who has been confirmed to join the cast of Denis Villeneuve’s film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s bestselling novel. Momoa joins an already impressive cast which includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin.

Pigtails notwithstanding, Momoa adds to the testosterone-heavy allure Villeneuve’s film seems to have in abundance.

The Cast For Denis Villeneuve's “Dune" Is Ridiculously Top-Notch

February 13, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

Despite middling box-office, Denis Villeneuve’s “Blade Runner 2049” pleased plenty, which only added to the Quebecois director’s impressive Hollywood resume thus far into his career. I’m not even counting his great French Canadian films, 2010’s “Incendies,” 2009’s “Polytechnique” and 2000’s “Maelstrom” to be precise - no, what Villeneuve has accomplished since his 2013’s Hollywood debut “Prisoners” is, quite frankly, astounding in terms of scope, ambition and technical prowess. Whether you like his movies or not, there are shades of absolute technical brilliance in “Arrival,” Sicario” and “Blade Runner 2049.” Despite screenplay lapses, they are the work of an artist that is a master at creating gloomy atmosphere.
