David Fincher’s “The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth” is set to start production in July.
Netflix’s upcoming film, which continues the story of Brad Pitt’s character from Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,” has now cast a key role.
What’s on Netflix is indicating that Elizabeth Debicki (“The Crown”) is currently in negotiations for a leading role. She’s reportedly been offered the part of Roberta, a mud wrestling bar manager, and talks are said to be close to a deal.
Debicki rose to prominence with “The Great Gatsby” and has since starred in major films like “Tenet,” “Widows,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy.” She recently earned acclaim for her portrayal of Princess Diana in “The Crown.”
This marks another intriguing piece of casting for a project that already has plenty of eyes on it. So far, it’s just Pitt and Debicki, but I should add that Fincher is also looking to cast the role of a Filipino mobster and film financier by the name of Bill Vergara.
Tarantino, who wrote and directed the 2019 original, is behind the script for this follow-up. Brad Pitt is locked in to reprise his role as Cliff Booth, the stuntman-turned-sidekick from the first film.
The story now finds Booth operating as a Hollywood studio fixer—someone who handles problems behind the scenes when things go sideways. Leonardo DiCaprio is also rumored to be circling a small appearance, though nothing is official yet. Netflix offered the actor $3M for the cameo.
Casting is ongoing, and production is expected to begin in the summer. This one’s shaping up to be a major prestige title for Netflix.
