Netflix and IMAX in Talks For ‘Frankenstein’ Theatrical Release

May 15, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein” is slated to hit Netflix later this fall, but there’s a interesting new development. This one might get an extended theatrical release.

During a roundtable discussion at the Cannes Film Festival, Collider reported that Richard Gelfond, CEO of IMAX, addressed upcoming film releases and confirmed “Frankenstein” will get an IMAX run.

Although Gelfond emphasized that nothing has been finalized, he revealed that an IMAX release for the film is currently “under discussion.” Netflix has previously given limited theatrical releases to films like “Glass Onion,” and will be giving “Narnia” a 28-day run on IMAX in November 2026.
