‘F1' Releases “Main" Trailer

May 12, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

One of the most eagerly awaited films of the summer is Joseph Kosinski’s “F1,” which has a substantial runtime of 151 minutes. That makes it one of the lengthiest major studio releases this season.

We now have a full-length trailer which showcases a little more of what the film is about. This will be the same adrenaline-charged vein as Kosinski’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” and looks to deliver sleek, cinematic thrills.

Brad Pitt leads the cast as a former Formula One driver who returns to the sport to mentor an emerging talent, portrayed by Damson Idris. The cast also includes Kerry Condon and Tobias Menzies. As Pitt’s character partners with his young protégé, he aims for one last shot at racing success.

Sources in the industry have revealed that the production budget for “F1” has exceeded $300M, primarily due to delays in filming. Shooting began in July 2023 but was hindered by the SAG-AFTRA strike. Nevertheless, Kosinski managed to keep key racing scenes in production thanks to a special agreement, and principal photography concluded in December 2024—marking an extensive 16-month shoot.

Apple Studios is strategically aiming the film at European audiences, where Formula One has a much larger fan base than in the United States. Notably, “F1” will bypass the Cannes Film Festival and instead make its premiere in Monaco—an apt choice given the subject matter.

Reuniting with Oscar-winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda, Kosinski brings his signature visual style back to the screen following the success of “Top Gun: Maverick.” Apple is producing the film, with Warner Bros. overseeing distribution.

“F1” is slated for release in theaters and IMAX on June 27, 2025, with Warner Bros. guaranteeing a theatrical run of at least 30 days.
