Back in January, Neon acquired the rights to Michael Shanks’ “Together,” a well-reviewed body-horror starring Dave Franco, and Alison Brie. This was the biggest acquisition out of Sundance 2025. A release date of August 1, 2025 was quickly set up.
A trailer has been released for the film. Franco and Brie play Tim and Millie, a couple who go cross country and find themselves more reliant on each other than ever. Problem is that Tim physically cannot be away from Millie, for even a second, and that’s when he starts to rot away (physically and mentally).
“Together” premiered in Sundance’s midnight section on January 26 at the Eccles Theater and Neon was in the middle of a bidding war with A24 and Netflix. Neon ended up acquiring the film for a whopping $17M.
“Together” currently sits at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. That midnight screening played like gangbusters, I was told, and there was a real air of optimism, with the recent success of “The Substance,” and the horror genre in general, that “Together” could turn into a commercial success for Neon. We’ll just see about that.
