Here is the trailer for Gareth Edwards’ “Jurassic World: Rebirth.”
Great cast, mediocre trailer. Then again, with Edwards at the helm, it certainly can’t be worse than ‘Fallen Kingdom’ or ‘Dominion,’ right? Some of the visuals at least look inspired.
This latest ‘Jurassic’ film is said to be a fresh new take, with former cast members Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard not expected to return, nor are the original trilogy’s Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern and Sam Neill.
‘Rebirth’ stars Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey, and is being described as a “semi-reboot,” starting five years after the events of “Jurassic World: Dominion,” but with new characters, locations, and dinosaurs.
Last year, Edwards (“The Creator” and “Rogue One”) took over directing duties after original helmer David Leitch dropped out of the project due to “creative differences.”
Edwards was a great replacement. Given his background in both sci-fi and monster movies, Edwards, more so than Leitch, is a genuinely better match for the ‘Jurassic World’ franchise. Here’s hoping the film he’s made is better than the trailer we just saw.
The ‘Rebirth’ script is from David Koepp, who wrote the original “Jurassic Park.” Produced by veteran ‘Jurassic’ producers Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, the film is set for release, via Universal, on July 2, 2025.
