In December, and after much delay, Lionsgate was the one to finally pick up Trey Edward Shults’ “Hurry Up Tomorrow.” Described as a “psychological thriller,” the film will be released on May 16, 2025. I assume a trailer will be coming soon.
The film was co-written by Shults and Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd. Tesfaye would lead a cast that includes Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. We now have first look images (via EW). Tesfaye is coming off his turn in HBO’s (unfairly) panned “The Idol.”
"It's about an artist, you could say, on the verge of a mental breakdown," Shults tells EW as part of our exclusive first look at the film. "He meets this woman, and they go on this odyssey together. It's a mix of psychological thriller and drama. I honestly feel like I've never seen a movie quite like it."
I thought Shults’ 2015 debut, “Krisha,” was a masterpiece. If you haven’t checked it out, it’s absolutely worth a look. That movie alone has me excited for whatever Shults does next, and although I didn’t think his subsequent films, “It Came At Night” and “Waves,” were as accomplished as “Krisha,” they definitely sold me on the idea that this guy had major talent.
