We could have had a new Todd Haynes film coming out this year, but Joaquin Phoenix had to vacate the premises, exiting production as it was just five days away from shooting, and potentially in fear of having to perform oral sex on co-star Danny Ramirez.
In an interview with THR, Haynes says he’s moved on from that project and is now hard at work on “Trust,” a limited series starring Kate Winslet. Jon Raymond is co-writing the script with Haynes.
And so we move on; we’re very excitedly moving forward on this adaptation of Hernan Diaz’s “Trust.” That’s what I’m focusing on right now with Kate Winslet at HBO. It’s such an incredibly remarkable piece of work.
“Trust” a story told from multiple and competing perspectives, tackles a 1920s Wall Street tycoon who amasses a sudden fortune but loses a beloved wife. Decades later, his attempts to control the narrative of his life are undone by a biographer who uncovers the ultimate secrets of the legendary marriage.
The series will be a reunion for Haynes and Winslet who previously collaborated on HBO’s “Mildred Pierce,” the memorable 2011 miniseries based on James M. Cain’s 1941 novel. Raymond also co-wrote that project with Haynes.
