A few months ago, Armie Hammer admitted that his acting career was “nowhere now.” He added that he was no longer allowed to play in the Hollywood sandbox, but that he was “making my own sandbox” by writing a screenplay with a friend named Jerry.
Well, things have turned, and apparently, for the better. Hammer’s now saying that he’s been offered so many acting jobs in recent months that he’s had to “turn down” some offers. His claim is that Hollywood’s giving him a second chance.
“The worm is turning, it takes time,” he told Christina Pazsitzy and Tom Segura on the podcast “Your Mom’s House.” “It’s slow, but generally now the conversation when my name comes up with people in the industry is, ‘Man, that guy got fucked.’ And that feels really good. It’s really encouraging.”
Hammer recently wrapped shooting “Frontier Crucible” and has two more films coming up – one set to shoot this month in Croatia and the other in the Philippines in spring. The actor is doing all this without any agency representing him. Instead his attorney is negotiating the deals.
My dance card’s getting pretty full. That first job that I turned down after four years of this shit, I mean, it was the best feeling I’ve ever had.
Back in July, Hammer discussed the “brutal experience” he had when the sexual assault allegations came out, and that he was now “canceled” and “broke.” In 2023 Hammer went from being Hollywood’s hottest new actor to working in a cubicle, as a concierge, at a Caymans Island hotel.
Hammer was so broke after his #MeToo fallout that it was reported Robert Downey Jr. provided him a temporary place to stay, and financial assistance until he got back on his feet.
His downfall began after accusations of BDSM and cannibalistic fetishes were revealed on social media. It worsened when a social media user named Effie accused Hammer of rape. They supposedly had set a” safe word” before the BDSM session commenced, but he claims she never used it. After multiple investigations, Hammer ended up being cleared by multiple authorities.
