‘The Batman Part II' Delayed a Full Year to October 2, 2026

March 12, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II” has had its 2025 release pushed back to October 2, 2026. There’s been a lot of waiting and seeing with this one, and this new date is not surprising.

The anticipated sequel to “The Batman” was supposed to start production last November, with Robert Pattinson set to return in the titular role. Then production got delayed to March 2024, and, last I heard, it’s now set to shoot this coming August.

It turns out that DCU head James Gunn has heard a pitch for “The Batman: Part Two,” but no script has been submitted to him yet. No reasons have been given in regards to why this delay has occurred. I suspect that the writer’s strike might have affected the film’s momentum.

Writer-director Matt Reeves will be back in the fray with Mattson Tomlin credited as co-writer. Also expected to return for the sequel are Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell and, possibly, Barry Keoghan as The Joker. DP Greig Fraser also recently confirmed his presence for the sequel.
