‘Avengers: Endgame' Will Be Over Three Hours Long, Marvel's Longest Runtime

March 25, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

Make sure to go to bathroom before you watch “Avengers: Endgame,” especially if you have a sensitive bladder. If the 149 minutes of last year’s “Avengers: Infinity War” was the record-setter for a Marvel movie, that number will soon be broken by its follow-up which clocks in at 182 minutes. The news was confirmed by Fandango,

Final Oscar Predictions: “Green Book” Will Win Best Picture.

February 24, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

Cue in the outrage police. Peter Farrelly’s “Green Book” might set back the Oscars by a few years when and if it wins Best Picture at the 91st Academy Awards tonight. All the “progress” that happened with “Moonlight",” “12 Years A Slave,” and “Shape of Water” winning might be destroyed, according to wokers, of course. No diss intended to Farrelly’s lovely film, but the amount of hate it has garnered throughout awards season is enough to send Twitter into outrage-overdrive when Peter “I flashed Cameron Diaz" Farrelly and Nick “Muslims celebrated on 9/11” Vallelonga get on-stage to accept their award at around midnight EST (Yes, that’s when the Oscars will likely finish broadcast).

Bret Easton Ellis Says ‘Black Panther' Doesn't Deserve Oscar Love, Says No One Thinks It’s ‘That Good’

February 4, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

“American Psycho” author Bret Easton Ellis is sharing my exact sentiments about “Black Panther” not deserving its Oscar nomination for Best Picture. In fact, he actually, shock., claims that Oscar voters are supporting it just for diversity, not because it’s good. Which is true.

Director Gaspar Noe Walked Out of ‘Black Panther’: ‘I Had to Escape the Cinema After 20 Minutes’

January 12, 2019 Jordan Ruimy

Gaspar Noe spoke to Variety about “Climax,” being released in March, but he also shared a hilarious anecdote about walking out of a screening of "Black Panther" after just 20 minutes.

“I tried ‘Black Panther.’ I escaped from the cinema after 20 minutes,” Noé said. “I thought it was as bad as ‘Star Wars.’ I hated ‘Star Wars.’ I hated the R&B music [in “Black Panther”]. The music was so bad that I had to escape. But you know which one I like? What’s the name of the Denis Villeneuve movie? ‘Arrival.’ That one was good.”

In the next few weeks you will no doubt see a real push by the media to present "Black Panther" as a worthy Best Picture contender. All for the sake of progress and a rabid Disney agenda that is expertly pushing this narrative. Don't bite.

The American Film Institute’s annual list of the the top 10 movies of the year sets the stage for the major Oscar contenders to come. However, do keep in mind that because of its foreign-language status, Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma” could only nab a Special Award from the AFI film jury. The list celebrates the best of American cinema.

“BlacKkKlansman”
“Black Panther”
“Eighth Grade”
“If Beale Street Could Talk”
“The Favourite”
“First Reformed”
“Green Book”
“Mary Poppins Returns”
“A Quiet Place”
“A Star Is Born”

Marvel and Disney desperately seek Oscar nom for ‘Black Panther'

November 28, 2018 Jordan Ruimy

I haven't re-watched Ryan Coogler's "Black Panther" lately, but it's not even the best Marvelmovie of the year. I'm writing this in complete shock, having just heard the news that Arthouse Convergence is getting involved in pushing 'Panther' for the Oscars? Am I dreaming this? A $700 million Disney movie having to turn to arthouses for support.

Ryan Coogler to Write and Direct 'Black Panther' Sequel

October 12, 2018 Jordan Ruimy

THR is reporting that Ryan Coogler will write and direct a sequel to this year's uber-successful "Black Panther."

Coogler is set to make mega bucks for "Black Panther 2." Good for him. Such a great timeline for him. His career got started with the little indie "Fruitvale Station," which I thought wasn't all that impressive, despite the important political context and friendly reviews. What really turned heads, including mine, was the way he shot those boxing scenes in "Creed 2," Wowza! That really led me to believe this guy had something special, but then he had to go and waste those talents on the most mass-marketed, safe entertainment imaginable over at Marvel. Oh, well. Money talks, but I do hope Coogler eventually goes back into making original statements post-Panther. Which is not to say "Black Panther 2" will disappoint by any means, although I had a generally mixed reaction with the original, but, man, Marvel and Disney are really stealing all these young up and coming talents for the most mainstream fare imaginable.

Michael B. Jordan is also set to star in the 'Panther' sequel. And so, you might ask, if Jordan's character died in the first one, how is he going to star in this movie as well? My answer is rather simple: this is Marvel, nobody ever really dies forever.

“Black Panther” doesn’t live up to the hype

February 17, 2018 Jordan Ruimy

The 18th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is the first to star a black superhero. In that regard, director Ryan Coogler's "Black Panther" is a game-changer, a landmark of the superhero genre that's been more than 2 decades in the making.
