The big movie event this weekend is Joseph Kosinski’s “F1,” a 156-minute adrenaline rush that shamelessly leans into every crowd-pleasing cliché in the book. And you know what? It works. The you-are-there race scenes are some of the best ever put on celluloid.
Audiences are showing up, too. As of Friday night, “F1” has pulled in $25M and is on track for a $60M+ opening weekend. That would be an impressive debut for a non-franchise original — if not for its towering $250M production budget.
That’s my take, but what about yours? Did “F1” live up to the hype for you? Its A CinemaScore, 92% PostTrak and 8.1 on IMDb suggest it’s a major hit with audiences. Not surprised. The film is slick, old-school entertainment.
