Last week, Puck‘s Matt Belloni claimed that Matt Reeves was finally turning in his long-awaited script for “The Batman Part II” to DC overlord James Gunn on Monday. Well, Monday’s here, and guess what? No script.
This morning, Gunn himself hopped on social media to politely (and by politely, we mean passive-aggressively) swat the rumor down, saying the report was “not true.” Translation: The script’s still somewhere in the Batcave.
According to Belloni’s insiders, Reeves was supposed to hand in the script over a year ago. Warner Bros. execs are reportedly “frustrated.” And you can’t blame them — “The Batman” made almost $800M back in 2022, prompting an immediate sequel greenlight… which has now turned into a three-year wait with nothing but vibes, riddles, and slow-burn updates.
To be fair, Gunn has been one of Reeves’ most vocal defenders, recently telling fans in an EW interview to “get off Matt’s nuts” — a line that will probably be on a T-shirt at Comic-Con.
