Josh O’Connor Drops Out of Luca Guadagnino’s ‘Separate Rooms’

May 21, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Just a quick note on Luca Guadagnino’s “Separate Rooms,” Josh O’Connor is no longer involved in this Pier Vittorio Tondelli adaptation. Léa Seydoux is still set to co-star in the film, which still has no production date.

Unfortunately not. Luca’s working all the time. He’s such a busy bee and rightly so. We’re constantly talking. He may well do it, but unfortunately it won’t be with me.

This latest development comes hot off the heels of Guadagnino’s “Sgt. Rock” having been put on pause over at DCU Studios. Jeff Sneider had previously reported that it might have had to do with the studio getting cold feet over giving Guadagnino such a large budget ($75M+) to make his comic book movie.

So, what’s next for Guadagnino? Nobody really knows, maybe not even him. It might be his “American Psycho” movie, or it could be one of the four adaptations he has in development, including “The Lord of the Flies,” “Leading Men,” and “Buddenbrooks.”

Guadagnino’s already shot and completed a new film (“After the Hunt”) starring Julia Roberts and Andrew Garfield — that one’s set for fall 2025 release.
