Dan Trachtenberg’s “Secret” ‘Predator’ Movie Has A Trailer

April 8, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Dan Trachtenberg is 20th Century’s main man when it comes to the Predator franchise. Trachtenberg directed 2022’s “Prey,” a nifty straight-to-streaming “Predator” prequel. It was a word of mouth hit on Hulu, and even had some folks wondering why it didn’t get a theatrical summer release that year.

Trachtenberg now has “Predator: Badlands” slotted for a November 7th, 2025 release, and that one will be hitting theaters. However, the filmmaker has apparently completed another Predator film, in secret, and this one will be made available on streaming before ‘Badlands.’

“Predator: Killer of Killers” is a three-part animated anthology that’s set to premiere as a Hulu exclusive on June 6th, 2025. The voice cast includes Lindsay LaVanchy, Louis Ozawa, Rick Gonzalez, and Michael Biehn.

A trailer has just been released for the anthology film — which can be viewed below — and it looks groovy. I dig the animation style. The three stories told here are of The Predator fighting Vikings, Samurais and WWII pilots.

Synopsis:

The anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause. But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent – the ultimate killer of killers.”

I’m glad that Trachtenberg has found success. His 2016 debut, “10 Cloverfield Lane,” was an impressive feat in tension — it also featured one of John Goodman’s very best performances. You can just sense a good filmmaker by the way a shot is structured, or a scene is composed, and Trachtenberg has just that.
