Yesterday, a Variety hit-piece threw Rachel Zegler under the bus and had anonymous sources, no doubt Disney-backed, blaming the actress for the failure of “Snow White.”
One of the contentious stories by Variety had Zegler freely speaking her mind on social media about various political topics, including Israel/Palestine and Donald Trump, which led to producer Marc Platt having to fly over to Zegler’s home to speak directly with the actress. She refused to take down her posts.
Last night, on Instagram, someone tried to shame Platt’s son, Jonah, about his father’s actions, and he wouldn’t have it. He describes Zegler’s actions as narcissistic and believes this led to her hijacking and tainting the film:
This is more or less confirmation of Disney’s disdain towards Zegled. They're not happy with her. Will she now get blacklisted by the studios in the same fashion as fired ‘Scream’ star Melissa Barerra was after posting pro-Palestinian posts?
A year later, Disney did end up hiring a “social media guru” for some type of social media conditioning, or tutorial. This seemed to have finally worked as Zegler infamously apologized for some of her comments.
UPDATE: Speaking of Barrera — who now seems to only be starring in low budget indies — the actress has just gone on her social media to defend Zegler as a “cool” person filled with “integrity.”
