James Gray, the filmmaker behind “Two Lovers” and “Lost City of Z,” is giving Luca Guadagnino a run for his money in terms of collecting an endless amount of projects in development.
Just a brief recap, Gray’s next film is supposed to be “Paper Tiger,” starring Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong and Adam Driver. Also in the works, a JFK biopic, the sci-fi “Summer Frost,” the ghost story “Ezekiel Moss,” and now we can add another one.
THR is reporting that Gray will direct “Kill Your Darlings,” an adaptation of Peter Swanson‘s upcoming novel, with Julia Roberts set to star. Yes, this is a film adaptation for a book that’s not even out yet — a murder mystery about a married couple and the dark secret that binds them together. The story is said to be told in reverse.
As for “Paper Tiger,” which THR claims is currently in “pre-production,” who knows when it’ll start shooting. Hathaway is about to start production on Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” and Driver might, or might not, be shooting Terry Gilliam’s next film in April. The best we can hope is for Gray to start filming “Paper Tiger” during the second half of the year.
