With the start of production on Greta Gerwig’s “Narnia” less than five months away, assembling of the cast is currently under way, and there’s further indication that my original Saoirse Ronan exclusive will likely be officially announced soon.
In a recent interview with Collider, Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley confided that she dreams of working with Gerwig, and mentioned that she’d specifically asked if she could be in ‘Narnia.’ However, she believes she might have lost the role to an actress frequently associated with Greta Gerwig – Saoirse Ronan.
Back in September, I had reported that Ronan had landed an unspecified role in ‘Narnia.’ Ronan has already starred in two Gerwig films (“Lady Bird” and “Little Women”) and I was told that it’s a supporting turn in “Narnia.”
If you can believe it, they’re looking at seven months of production on “Narnia,” which tells me that Gerwig might be shooting two films back to back. When the project initially got greenlit, the plan was for a December 2025 release on Netflix, but it’s now aiming for November 2026 theatrical launch in IMAX.
