A sequel to “The Accountant” is officially releasing in theaters on April 25. Amazon will produce the film. Gavin O'Connor is directing and Ben Affleck will reprise his role. A trailer has just been released for the film.
“The Accountant,” released in 2016, was a well-filmed action no-brainer. Affleck’s ‘John Wick,’ if you will. The film grossed $86M domestically, but more importantly, ended up becoming the most rented film of 2017, it even bested “Moana” (#2) in terms of sales. Looking back now, and given its immense popularity with home audiences, the film’s mixed reviews now seem a tad too harsh
“The Accountant” starred Affleck as a highly skilled forensic accountant with autism who uncovers financial deceptions for criminal organizations while also being a deadly assassin. He ends up uncovering a conspiracy that involves millions of dollars, and that’s when the body count starts to rise.
O’Connor has already confirmed an idea for “The Accountant 3,” but we’ll first have to see how the second instalment, which world premieres at SXSW in March, does at the box-office. O’Connor’s past directing credits include “Warrior,” “Miracle,” and “The Way Back.”
