Last night, we had Super Bowl teasers for ‘Mission: Impossible 8,’ “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” “Thunderbolts,” “F1,” “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Smurfs.” Studios spent over $7M for 30-second spots, and, quite honestly, the best one didn’t even show any movie footage.
Instead, we got a loose promo for “Lilo & Stitch” where the titular blue alien causes chaos by running around the football field, and crashing a cart into the end zone. Inspired by Looney Tunes chases, Disney really hit this one out of the ballpark, and made the best out of the 30 seconds allocated for the spot. The marketing has been great for this one.
Much like “Moana 2,” “Lilo & Stitch,” a live-action/CGI remake of Disney's 2002 animated film, was originally set for Disney+ streaming debut before being switched to theatrical release in 2024. The film is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, will be hitting theaters on May 23, 2025.
