Focus Features is nearing a deal to remake Takashi Miike’s “Audition.” This is as bad an idea as a U.S. reboot of “Oldboy,” which, sadly, already happened.
The latest “Audition” is being written & directed by Christian Tafdrup. Ironically, Tafdrup’s “Speak No Evil,” an acclaimed Danish horror film, had its own U.S. remake released, just last year, and that one was directed by James Watkins.
No words can describe the feeling I had in discovering Miike’s “Audition.” No only is it a cult classic, but it’s quite simply one of the best horror films of the last 25 years. Quentin Tarantino once referred to the film as a "true masterpiece if there ever was one"
“Audition” tackles a widower who holds a fake casting call to find a new wife. He becomes infatuated with a mysterious woman who harbors a dark and twisted past. As their relationship deepens, the film descends into depraved psychological and physical horror
