Ah, yes, nostalgia. The 1980s are about to get revived over at Warner Bros. Two notable ‘80s hallmarks, filled with silly effects, and even sillier stories, are said to now be fast tracked for potential sequel and/or reboot purposes.
A Deadline piece mentions that Warner Bros is currently working on a new treatment of “The Goonies.” No word yet on whether this is a sequel or reboot. If it’s a sequel, which is where the winds are headed, then you’d need to get the entire cast back, including Josh Brolin, Ke Huy Quan, and Sean Astin.
However, in actual development, according to Deadline, is another ‘Gremlins’ movie, and with an actual writer already attached (Chris Columbus). This isn’t too surprising. WB has been toying with another “Gremlins” for a while now. Columbus, who was the writer on the original, will probably be writing this one. Will he also be directing? Here’s hoping they get the great Joe Dante to be somehow involved in this one.
