Full-Length ‘Longlegs' Trailer is Here

May 20, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

We finally have some decent footage of Oz Perkins’ “Longlegs.” Interesting marketing to not show Nicolas Cage’s serial killer. We haven’t gotten a single glimpse of him yet.

The vibes here feel like a mix of “True Detective,” “Se7en” and “Silence of the Lambs.” Again, the plot is barely revealed, but in the trailer there’s a shot of a black-veiled figure, a demonic face slowly appears behind the veil. There’s also a blink-and-miss shot of a young girl sitting on a bed, with a giant horned figure behind her.

Here’s the synopsis:

Lee Harker, a talented new FBI agent, has been assigned to an unsolved case of a serial killer. As the investigation becomes more complicated and occult evidence is uncovered, Harker realizes a personal link to the ruthless killer and must act quickly to prevent another family murder.

At a recent test screening, one of our readers raved about it, saying “It’s very unsettling and deeply steeped in the satanic panic of the ‘70s serial killer horror.” You can read their full reaction here.

Neon is so convinced that they have a winner here that they’ve decided to back Perkins’ next two films, “The Monkey” and “Keeper.” Is Perkins (“The Blackcoat’s Daughter”) the next big thing in horror? I’m not yet convinced, but “Longlegs” does look like it could be very good.

Neon will release “Longlegs” on July 12.
