We haven’t heard much from writer-director Allen Hughes. He was a fairly big name in the ‘90s, especially after he and his brother, Albert, helmed their incendiary 1993 debut, “Menace II Society.” They went on to direct three more films together: “Dead Presidents,” “From Hell” and “The Book of Eli.”
All this to say that Allen, who last directed a film in 2013 (“Broken City”), is now prepping to shoot a Snoop Dogg biopic in 2025, described as the “definitive” statement on the iconic rapper. The film will be co-written by Hughes and Joe Robert Cole.
Casting is currently underway to find an actor to play Snoop. I’m told they’re not looking for a familiar name, but are instead eyeing a newcomer to take on the task of playing the rapper. A shoot in Q2 2025 is being eyed for the film.
