DC Studios has officially greenlit a film centered around Clayface, the Batman villain, from a script written by filmmaker Mike Flanagan, according to Variety. Filming is expected to begin early next year.
Flanagan has not been shy in his insistence to make a Clayface movie. A few years ago, he tweeted that he was “really keen to do a standalone Clayface movie as a horror/thriller/tragedy.” However, he might not be directing the film as he’s currently committed to write/direct his “The Exorcist” reboot for Universal.
As for Gunn’s DCU, it’s starting to slowly take shape, and will kick off with next year’s “Superman.” Other projects currently lined up include “Supergirl,” “The Authority,” “Swamp Thing,” “Sgt. Rock,” “Teen Titans,” and “The Brave and the Bold.”
