A higher quality trailer has leaked online. I’m not sure what Disney is waiting for as, despite the leaks, they still haven’t released it online. Is this movie turning into a write-off for them?
EARLIER: I gather we’ll be getting the ‘Snow White’ trailer popping online very soon as it’s currently playing in front of “Wicked” in theaters nationwide. Regardless, the trailer has leaked online.
Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen has me rolling up in laughter. The dwarfs are uber-CGI’ed. We’ll see how this one turns out when it gets released on March 21, 2025.
“Snow White” was written by none other than Greta Gerwig and is being directed by Marc Webb (“500 Days of Summer”). It stars Gadot, Rachel Zegler, Andrew Burnap, Ansu Kabia, Dujonna Gift and Martin Klebba. Controversy seems to follow this film wherever it goes.
The trailer comes hot off a slew of controversial comments given by its star, Zegler. The actress slammed the original 1937 classic, ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,’ as “weird” and “creepy,” adding that the character’s love interest, the prince, was a “stalker.” She’s also described the upcoming remake as “PC Snow White.”
More recently, Zegler caused fury with the MAGA crowd following an Instagram post, where she declared, “May Trump supporters and Trump voters and Trump himself never know peace,” and “there is a deep deep sickness in this country,” and “another four years of hatred, leaning us towards a world I do not want to live in.”
A few days later, Zegler posted and official apology.
Forbes recently reported that the budget for the upcoming live-action “Snow White” had ballooned to $270M by the end of 2023. The movie has blown past its originally intended budget — which was $180M-$200M — no doubt, and mostly, due to all of the reshoots and rewrites that have plagued the production.
Given that the $270M number comes from the end of 2023, I would imagine the film’s budget is now in the $300M range since there was further additional photography done on the film in 2024. Earlier in the year, The Daily Mail (not the most reliable source, mind you) reported the figure to actually be in the $330 million range,
