“Avatar,” was a major cultural shapeshifter when it was released 9 years ago. It also turned out to be the last James Cameron film to hit screens. He’s been working on those damn sequels ever since — more precisely, four of them. We did, however, wonder if any changes would be made with the, now, Disney/Fox merger coming into full fruition.
And so, it was today that Disney announced “Avatar 2” as being bumped up by a year and is now slated to be released on 12.17.21, with the the fourth and final sequel being delayed as well from 12.19.25 to 12.17.27.
Of note, to “Star Wars” fans: Disney also announced the addition of three untitled “Star Wars” movies. These would most likely be part of the Rian Johnson trilogy, which would have a whole new cast of characters living within the “Star Wars Universe.” The scheduled release for these films has them them being coming out on December 2022 and continuing in December 2024 and 2026
