It’s become a tradition in this country for President Donald Trump to begin his Sunday mornings by venting about current events, not to mention the powers conspiring against him. However, he went that extra mile this morning when he complained NBC’s Saturday Night Live should be investigated by federal regulators for mocking him and not the Democrats.
Trump complained their treatment of him was “like an advertisement without consequences” and a boost to help Democrats.
“It's truly incredible that shows like Saturday Night Live, not funny/no talent, can spend all of their time knocking the same person (me), over & over, without so much of a mention of 'the other side.' Like an advertisement without consequences. Same with Late Night Shows,' he wrote on Twitter.
And he added: 'Should Federal Election Commission and/or FCC look into this? There must be Collusion with the Democrats and, of course, Russia! Such one sided media coverage, most of it Fake News. Hard to believe I won and am winning. Approval Rating 52%, 93% with Republicans. Sorry! #MAGA'
Trump has suggested in the past that government should look into comedic “hit jobs” against Republicans. The notion that SNL is biased against Donald Trump is not far from the truth, the facts do back him up, but the idea of censoring comedy is preposterous. I have been an advocate of freedom of speech for many years now, especially in these wretched times of censorship on both sides of the aisle, especially on the left — the last thing we need is to prevent people from speaking their minds. Mostly liberals watch SNL, so it’s not like Trump’s popularity will diminish because of the weekly “hit job” skits. Trumpsters, as they are called, will not tune in to SNL because, quite frankly, they already know what they’re in for. Alec Baldwin impersonation OF 45 has been a recurrent part of the show since early 2016, it won’t change. And it’s not like all of America is watching the damn thing. Around 3-4 million viewers watch SNL on a weekly basis, that’s not a lot, inconsequential numbers, Trump should just move on to more important things.
