David Fincher Working On New Original Film for Netflix

September 2, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

The always reliable Kasey Moore over at What’s on Netflix is reporting that, in addition to “Squid Game: America,” David Fincher is looking to direct a new original, and unannounced, movie for Netflix, and that he’ll be sharing more intel about it later this week.

Moore specifies that Fincher is currently working on “at least” four different projects over at Netflix: the unannounced original movie, ‘Squid Game,’ his Robert Towne penned “Chinatown” prequel and the Hitchcock remake “Strangers.”

We’ll be keeping an eye out on the Fincher announcement, which should be coming in the coming days. The last decade, Fincher has signed a few multi-year deals with Netflix, he recently extended his contract for another three years, until 2027, and that includes free rein on movie projects.

Fincher has been all about Netflix for over ten years now, delving into the streaming game full-on, creating shows such as “House of Cards,” “Mindhunter,” Love, Death + Robots,” not to mention two feature films, “Mank” (2020) and “The Killer” (2023).
